The year of 2018 is expected to see a lot of development in the gambling sector in the Baltic and Scandinavian region and one of the driving forces for this change is going to be the inaugural edition of Mare Balticum Gaming Summit which is scheduled to be held in Riga, Latvia. The gathering aims to attract the gambling industry of the Baltic Sea Region and provide a lot of information regarding the future projects and changes which could happen in the area. The summit is scheduled on 8th May 2018 at Astor Riga Hotel, Riga.
EEGEvents, which is the gaming events organizer responsible for the event has decided that this is the place which will provide the most suitable environment for a gaming summit with this rank. The main aim of the congregation will be to give gaming operators and vendors operating on a global scale the chance to meet local regulators which will also be present at the summit. In the recent months, Latvia and Sweden have seen some development plans in the gaming field. It could be recalled that the parliament of Latvia decided to set a new license fee for live casino services in the country which will amount to €400,000 per year. The change will be applied from 1st January 2018 to all operators willing to offer live casino. In the meantime, the government of Sweden is discussing a new gambling framework which is aiming to put an end to the current iGaming monopoly of SvenskaSpel and allow local and international online gaming operators to enter the sector. The amended legislation is expected to take effect by 2019.
