This November brought the PokerStars Festival to Hamburg and it had its Main Event in the past three days. The tournament drew thousands of poker players ready to see how far they could go for the big money. The buy-in for the event amounted to €1,100 which did not make the participants hesitate since there was a guaranteed prize pool amounting to €549,990. The first place and the trophy were reserved for the player who demonstrated the highest level of proficiency on the field and this was Hamburg poker player Ulrich Pauls who defeated all other entries in the Main Event.
The poker festival took place at Casino Schenefeld in Hamburg, Germany which gave a lot of players the chance to make an appearance at it. Pauls was the chip leader during the second day of the poker tournament and he managed to retain his leadership during the final day of the Main Event as well. During the heads-up duel, he played against Michal Lubas from Poland who at this point is used to the runner-up positions. As it could be recalled, he finished second after the duel against Petr Svoboda at the King’s Casino in Rozvadov this March. In comparison to his payout back then, this time Lubas could not surpass it, but still went home with €66,220 on his account.
As for the big winner, when asked about his experience in the Main Event, he stated that he enjoys to trust his instincts and this has brought him large payouts in the past. This was also how he played this time and he did not hesitate to risk it all and get his chips in the middle of the table as well as bluff every once in a while. However, he entered the Main Event with very mixed feelings, since he did not have much luck in some of the previous tournaments of the festival. However, he remained the leader during the final day like in the previous day of the Main Event and he bagged €105,850 for his excellent performance.
Main Event Final Day Action
There was a total of 567 entries willing to participate in the Main Event and this meant that only the top 79 positions on the leader board are going to receive a sweet payday amounting to at least €1,870. The money bubble burst around halfway through the second day of game and through methodical poker actions there were only 15 players left for the Day 3 of the Main Event.
Among them were the chip leader from Day 1A Rudolf Koster from Germany, who finished on the ninth position and was granted €9,290. PokerStars Team Pro Marcin Horecki from Poland also received cash from the Main Event finishing eighth and bagging €11,770. Up-and-coming poker player Andrei Nodea from Romania finished sixth and received €22,770 for his deep run. The player with highest chip count during Day 1D Behzad Zarnegar was also on the final table. The Germany player finished fourth and pocketed €36,960. The third position was taken by another German player and this was Jan Sigel, who had his hands on €47,410.
