The Caribbean Poker Festival began on 17th November in the sunny Dominican Republic, drawing thousands of enthusiasts to the appealing location and poker festival offerings. At the $1,100 Millions Open tournament, there were 812 entries in total and as many as 135 of them amassed chips at the end of the second day. Among the ones bagging chips was UK poker player Barny Boatman, who is second in the temporary leader board with his 18,400,000. He is following closely the current leader Gerald Karlic from Austria, who has as many as 18,605,000 in chips.
The top five positions on the leader board are always highly discussed and at the end of Day 2, there were some of the most prominent poker players in the event to the likings of Vincent Tremblay from Canada, who had his hands on 18,035,000 in chips. Rainer Kempe from Germany is in the fourth position and he has a bagful of 16,365,000 at the moment. The fifth player on the top position on the leader board is Russian poker player Alexander Beresnev and at the end of the second day, he had a chip stack amounting to 14,575,000.
It could be recalled that Boatman was the chip leader in Day 1a and he had a great start to his game, but some hands during the second day set him back on the runner-up position. What saved him from dropping even further back was a big pot he won during the penultimate hand of the second day and which solidified his place on the leader board. At the moment Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana is the hottest poker location since all players are preparing for the third day of the run for the big prizes. Among the poker players continuing ahead to Day 3 of the tournament with full throttle are many beloved poker players from around the world.
Big Names among the Day 2 Players
Michael ‘SirWatts’ Watson from Canada continues ahead in the event and at the end of Day 2 his chip stack was estimating to 10,330,000. Brit player Natalia Breviglieri also progresses to the next phase and she is a partypoker sponsored player who has 9,735,000 in chips at the moment. Another sponsored by partypoker pro is Kristen Bicknell from Ontario, Canada and the final hours of the second evening of game left her with 7,075,000 in chips. Since the Canadian presence is very prominent at this stage of the tournament another Canadian player Mike Leah also demonstrated good skills on the felt and he progresses ahead with 7,625,000 in chips.
Some of the poker players who could not make it to the third day of the anticipated by many poker tournament are big names in the industry such as Maria Ho, Anthony Zynno, Benny Glaser, Michael Gathy, and partypoker sponsored pro Johnny Lodden. Day 3 of the poker event is scheduled to commence this Monday and the potential winner would be picked during Day 4 of the $1,100 Millions Open tournament.
