The World Poker Tour recently had its latest edition of the WPTDeepStacks festival in Brussels. The poker festival gave a lot of poker players the chance to demonstrate their poker skills and one of them was French poker player Laurent Polito. The Frenchman managed to claim the coveted throne during the Main Event by defeating as many as 400 entries in the run for the big win. At the end of the final day of the event, his bag was filled with €90,000.
The final day of the Main Event began promising for the French poker player as he entered the field as the fifth player on the temporary leader board. There were a total of 12 players returning to a final day of action and they were all ready to conquer the big prize and the much-wanted first place trophy. The chip leader at the beginning of the day was Jerome Sgorrano coming straight from Belgium. Other notable poker players who progressed to the final stages of the game were Felipe Ramos from Brazil, as well as fellow French player Michel Abecassis who has been known in the industry for quite some time now.
Final Table Action Had a Lot to Offer
The final table consisted of the top nine players surviving after the long run and on the ninth position of it was Olivier Fehlmann who managed to lay his hands on €9,000 after Netherlands poker player Leonardo Armino knocked him out. Armino then proceeded to climb ahead and ended on the second position on the leader board, pocketing €62,600. The eight position was reserved by Frederic Leonetti who bagged €11,450 while the seventh place was claimed by Sylvain Naets who received €14,450 for his good performance.
On the other hand, Polito busted poker players Alain Bauer in the fifth position and Sgorrano in the fourth, receiving €21,470 and €29,375 respectively. Armino appointed the third place for the Brazilian pro Felipe Ramos who had a sweet payday amounting to €40,335 at the end of the final day of the Main Event. This led to the anticipated by many heads-up duel between the experienced leading Armino and Polito who quickly gained advance and managed to leave him as a runner-up.
During his live poker career, Polito has made quite the feats which is why his live earnings before this most recent win amounted to $1,617,492. His biggest cash so far amounts to €270,229 and eh laid his hands on it back in 2012 when he participated in the €10,000+300 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller during the Barcelona stop of the Estrellas Poker Tour. The first poker cash Polito has won in his career was back in 2008, which makes him one of the more experienced poker players on the field of the WPTDeepStacks Main Event. He finished third in the €1,100 No-Limit Hold’em event of the Barriere Poker Tour in his home France and he got his hands on €11,000.
