The big winner in the Main Event was Steven “SvZff” van Zadelhoff who managed to defeat all rivals for the throne and went home $1.6 million richer. The final table did not involve any deals between the players, and they all relied on heavy work and skills.
The poker pro from the Netherlands has participated in many live tournaments around the world and his total live earnings amount to $1,509,481, but it is no secret to anyone acquainted enough with the poker industry, that Zadelhoff is in his element only in online tournaments. His winnings from online game are estimating to $3.8 million, which only comes to show his level of skills and maybe a sprinkle of good fortune. After the Main Event, his online earnings swelled u to $5.4 million guaranteeing him a sweet payday and nearly doubling his earnings.
The Main Event began this Sunday and it was a $5,200 buy-in one. Due to the big interest which was expected prior to the beginning, PokerStars added the guaranteed prize pool amounting to $10,000,000 to the equation and this promised the attention of every soul in the poker world. A total of 2,183 players participated in the event, provided that there were qualification satellites too. They collectively managed to swell the prize pool to $10,915,000, making the three days of action even more exciting and ensuring that the big winner was going to lay their hands on $1,624,502.27.
Steven Van Zadelhoff Guided by Lady Luck
Van Zadelhoff entered the final table as the chip leader, but his way towards it was interesting as well. The first one to leave was Thailand-listed player “imluckbox” who received $120,630.39 for his ninth position on the leaderboard. Following closely was a fellow Thai player who finished eighth and pocketed $166,961.29 from the tournament. The top three positions were reserved for the most proficient only, starting with Brazil’s Bernardo “Machadada RS” Rocha who was granted $848,015.82 for his good performance. The runner-up position was reserved for Canadian joshuah333, who could not defeat van Zadelhoff in the heads-up duel and left with $1,173,712.87.
