The second edition of Card Player Poker Tour World Cup of Cards has its brand new winner and his name is Luc Bellerive. The well-known poker pro managed to defeat all his opponents and go far for the first place in the C$1,650 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, which granted him the impressive C$98,000 (US$78,361).
The poker player from Shawinigan, Quebec showed the rest of the poker enthusiasts gathered for the big event that he is indeed the one who should get his hands on the big prize in the Main Event. The top position at the leader board was coveted by many of the 191 entries in the race, but only Bellerive succeeded in his attempts to reach it. As it was known prior to the start of the event, there was a guaranteed prize pool amounting to C$400,000, which made it even more appealing to the poker players which felt brave enough to participate in it. This gave Bellerive the chance to demonstrate his poker skills and show just how proficient he is on the felt.
Dynamic Final Table Run
The Playground Poker Club in Montreal was the perfect place to host the prestigious Card Player Poker Tour World Cup of Cards since it matched the scale of the world-famous championship. At the start of the final table of the Main Event, Bellerive was the chip leader among the eight remaining poker players, which gave him the confidence of a winner. The first one to leave the final table was Canadian native Samuel Chartier, who battled against Tam Ho, but proved unable to defeat him. This sent him to the eighth place at the leader board and he received C$11,520 (US$9,211) as a consolation prize.
From then on Ho managed to remove two other poker players in a row and he temporarily had the leading position in the tournament, which did not discourage Bellerive at all. His game was progressing slowly, but he scored his first knockout at the table when they were only four poker players left. In a battle against Jonathan Marrie, he called him all-in, which ended up poorly, as Marrie had to leave the game so close to the top positions. He claimed a total of C$24,100 (US$19,358) for his fourth position and his deep run in the C$1,650 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event.
The third place in the Main Event then went straight to Stuart Taylor who received C$39,818 (US$31,984), which made Tam Ho the temporary leader in the race, with a 2-to-1 lead over Bellerive. The heads-up game for the two professionals saw them both picking up pocket pairs. The chip lead was dynamically changing, but eventually, Ho finished as a runner-up, pocketing C$67,050 (US$53,613) for his excellent performance.
