This year’s edition of the World Cup of Cards Card Player Tour is currently in progress in Montreal and there are hundreds of poker players demonstrating their best game on the felt. There are only eight of them left to fight for the World Cup of Cards Main Event trophy and the honor to be called the new champion of the Card Player Poker Tour.
With close to 200 entries at the very beginning of the poker event, this was one of the emblematic events of this year in Montreal. Hosting the prestigious race for the big trophy is the Playground Poker Club in Montreal since it can provide the necessary atmosphere for the world-class tournaments. One of the most important things which attracted the big attention towards the festival is the C$400,000 guaranteed prize pool, which is also one of the most prominent features. The C$1,650 Buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event will provide eight lucky poker players with the opportunity to win the big prize amounting to C$98,000.
The Final Table Awaits Poker Pros
This Monday, 28th August will bring the start of the event’s final table which everyone awaits. The chip lead in it is held by Luc Bellerive who currently owns 1,698,000 in chips. The runner-up position is reserved for Tam Ho who has 1,327,000 on his name, followed closely by Stuart Taylor who has 800,000.
They have all had the chance to demonstrate their level of proficiency in other poker championships, but there is a poker player whose name is probably the most prominent among them. Samuel Chartier is a Montreal-native and has total live poker winnings from various poker tournaments amounting to $2.7 million. This time he enters the final table for the event in the fifth position on the leader board. During his performance, until this moment he has amassed 350,000 in chips.
Sunday saw the Day 2 of the C$1,650 Buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event and there were 43 poker pros returning for it after the end of Day 1. Those 24 of them who showed the best results in the progress of the second day earned cash since the minimum amount of cash they won was C$3,600. As usual, the cheap leader changes very often in this kinds of events, and Day 2 had Michael Malm on top of the leader board. However, as the day progressed he fell in ninth place, eventually finishing his participation with C$9,850. At the moment, all eight players left for the final day will receive guaranteed C$11,520.
Being the second edition of the festival, it brought more attention and an even bigger participation than last year’s edition. The final day of it is scheduled for 13th September, but what really makes it appealing is the fact that the World Cup of Cards Card Player Tour features more than C$6 million in guaranteed prize pools in the various events.
