World-famous global hospitality and entertainment company, MGM Resorts International, has denied a viral report claiming popular American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars owed more than $50 Million in gambling debt. The report, released by NewsNation last Thursday, has sparked massive media coverage, with a profusion of speculations across media outlets and comments from fans on social media platforms.
As the report’s anonymous source suggested, the singer was “basically owned by MGM” following allegedly piling up poker debts worth tens of millions of dollars.
In 2016, the Just the Way You Are singer entered into a “multi-year residency deal” with MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where he staged regular performances. Back then, the president of MGM Grand issued a statement showcasing the company’s appreciation of the performer’s artistic talent and excitement to bring world-class entertainment across its destination resorts. Ever since the residency deal has been repeatedly renewed.
According to the report released initially on March 14, the artist has accrued an astounding gambling debt, jeopardizing his long-term collaboration with the company. It claimed that Mars kept on performing his residency production to pay off the gambling debt. The report also cited unconfirmed figures suggesting the artist made $1.5 Million per night, and $60 Million per year, after the deduction of taxes.
MGM Resorts International Issues Official Statement Negating the Report
Following all allegations, the Vegas-based entertainment company has broken the silence and negated all rumors claiming the world-renowned performer had amassed a staggering gambling debt.
As per the written statement, Jennifer Michaels, Senior Vice President of Public Relations for MGM Resorts, confirmed the company was proud of its collaboration with the superstar, attracting visitors to its venues from the four corners of the world: “We’re proud of our relationship with Bruno Mars, one of the world’s most thrilling and dynamic performers,” the statement said.
The announcement further emphasized the reciprocal respect between the Grammy award winner and the entertainment company: “MGM and Bruno’s partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect. Any speculation otherwise is completely false; he has no debt with MGM.”
Over the years, there have been multiple rumors of the performer’s alleged gambling addiction, with some sources implying that his song lyrics alluded to it. However, the business partnership between the world-famous resort company and one of the top-selling artists of all time has remained unaffected, with an upcoming stage performance with Silk Sonic at Park MGM.
Representatives for Mars have declined comments to multiple media outlets, redirecting queries to the entertainment company’s statement. MGM Resorts International has remained committed to its partnership with the singer and to expanding its business with him: “Together, we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
