Gone are the days when poker players had to wait long until they have the chance to prove their skills with the help of a poker festival, as nowadays there are many premium ones in progress at any given time. The Star Sydney Championships is in progress at the moment, bringing the official final table to the Ladies Event and one lucky girl called Christina Hia won some $7,353 for her excellent performance.
Prestigious poker is always a pleasure to watch as participants are giving their best on the felt. Such is the case with the tenth annual edition of this poker championship which never fails to deliver riveting poker action and generous payouts to its participants. The Star Sydney is the proud host of the Championship which is well-known for its premium style of operation and prize offerings it features.
In addition to being among the renown poker festivals, there is also a total guaranteed prize pool amounting to some A$2,250,000 which would be divided among the best participants of the poker congregation. The second event in the diverse schedule of the poker congregation was no other than the Ladies Event spanning over a total of two days. This tournament came to the participants registering featuring a buy-in amounting to some A$330.
Each player entering the player field commenced their race towards the throne with some 10,000 in chips, giving them the freedom to operate with them as they deem convenient. A total of 70 players made their way to the first day of the event preparing for the race and they were willing to prove this venue could bring them good fortune.
No Boys Allowed at This Event
Over the span of the first day of action, their number was quickly reduced to only seven ladies preparing for the Final Table of this event. There was a chip leader among them at the threshold of this pivotal phase and that was Rebecca Kinnane who had a total of 166,000 in chips at the very beginning of the last battle of seven.
Following her closely was the eventual winner of the tournament Christine Hia, bringing 141,000 in chips to her spot. As for the third position on the temporary ranking before the Final Table, it was occupied by poker player listed as Miki, who had some 111,000 to her name.
The first player to exit the Ladies Event was Emily Zaiter who had the shortest stack of chips at the beginning of the table and could not make it in a battle against Lagi Tupua. Zaiter had to settle for the smallest cash payout of the Final Table which amounted to some A$1,078 and potentially give her luck a try in some of the following events in The Star Sydney Championships.
As the day progressed Tupua continued forward and was eventually eliminated on the third place. This brought her a sweet payday of A$3,011 after she was busted by Hia. The heads-up duel was settled between Hia and Kinnane, both showcasing their skills and that they are equal rivals for the throne. At the very beginning of the duel, Kinnane was the leading player with some 500,000 in chips, whereas Hia had only 200,000 to her name.
Following a short break, they were ready for the last battle and with a plot twist Hia won a pot and doubled up at the right time. With only a couple of blinds remaining Kinnane was already on her way to the runner-up position which eventually brought her a consolation prize of A$4,542.
The players’ potential would be further proved at some of the following mixed events where they would have the chance to compete with players from around the globe. The next event which commences this Monday is a single-day Turbo one featuring a buy-in amounting to some $440 in chips and a prize pool amounting to some A$92,400.
