It is not a secret to anyone that the World Series of Poker is the poker festival which enjoys quite the popularity around the globe with its wide variety of poker tournaments. The evidence for this comes in the form of generous payouts for everyone participating some of which were paid out at the end of the Event #32: $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em as the best eight players reached the final table.
The eventual winner was Matthew Davis who claimed a total of $662,983 for the throne and the WSOP gold bracelet coming with it. Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is one of the hottest locations at the moment since this is where the 49th edition of the World Series of Poker is taking place over the span of the next month. As every other year, the poker festival aims to provide players with a wide variety of poker events and one such emblematic tournament is the one dedicated to players over 50.
WSOP is well-known for its diverse poker offerings which aim to give players the opportunity to put their skills to the test. Among the events featured in the schedule of the poker festival are some tournaments which could not be found on most poker festivals or at least not that often. Last Friday saw the official start of the Seniors event which attracted a total of 5,919 players willing to become part of the field and prove their skills.
Poker Players Demonstrate their Skills
What should be taken into account is the fact that this Day 1 set a new record in the history of WSOP by being the largest single Day 1. This number of players registering for action bested last year’s record of 5,389 showing that every year more and more people are willing to participate in this kind of events.
Starting with this overall number of players willing to put their skills to the test, the Seniors event was sure to provide players with riveting action and a fair share of competition. Many of the participants at this event were recreational with quite the experience in live poker tournaments. This was demonstrated on the felt throughout the entire span of the poker event which was a multiple-day one.
With their joint efforts, the total prize pool of this event reached some $5,327,100 which secures a sweet payday for every player who makes it past the money bubble burst. Among the players featured on the Final Table were previous accomplished participants such as Bill Stabler. This is not his first time at the Final Table of this event since he made it this far back in 2012 proving his professionalism.
This time he had to settle for the runner-up position on the official leader board and to claim the consolation prize of $409,456. He could not defeat the skillful winner Davis who has made it far in previous WSOP events in 2007 and 2009. This first place brought him his largest WSOP cash prize up to this point and it is a well-deserved one since he managed to outplay one of the largest player pools in the poker festival.
The chip leader at the beginning of the Final Day was Gary Friedlander who could not make it further than the fourth position which brought him some $227,111. Now poker action progresses ahead with Event #34: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold’em which is also another promising event with a lot on offer.
