Progressing ahead with the leading poker festival from Down under, recently the 25th tournament of it schedule came to its end and granted many of its participants with coveted winnings. The one who succeeded in demonstrating his skills on the felt was Daniel Laidlaw who emerged victorious in the A$5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha and for his performance received a total of A$128,285.
The people responsible for the organization and schedule of poker tournaments usually rely on the guaranteed success and introduce a large number of No-Limit Hold’em tournaments. This is being done as this is the most well-known style of poker and many people enjoy it, which can leave something to be desired when it comes to diversity. Pot-Limit Omaha events also have a lot to offer when it comes to riveting ups and downs and many players yearn them and anticipate their beginning.
This was the case with this 25th event in the schedule of Aussie Millions, which brought together many familiar faces from the international poker scene. As many as 103 people expressed their willingness to run for the big win, which was also a big improvement in comparison to last year’s edition of the same tournament when there were only 65 people on the poker tables. The big winner then was Espen Solaas from Norway who at the end of the tournament bagged some A$100,815.
Laidlaw Performs as a Winner
Laidlaw claimed his right for the big prize convincingly throughout the tournament and defended his total live earnings amounting to $1,222,519. His live career commenced back in 2008 when he first played at Australia Day Cup in home Adelaide and grabbed A$1,510 for his fifth place.
The largest cash he has ever laid his hands on from a live event came last year when he played at the PokerStars Championship in Macau. He finished third at HK$42,400 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event and defeated a large number of rivals for the big win.
This payout is the second one for him since the beginning of this year and the Aussie Millions poker festival. A fresh start of his payroll for 2018 gave his performance at A$10,600 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event where he received A$15,000 for his good play. The final table of this year’s edition of the event featured many former WSOP gold bracelet winners with extensive experience in the poker world. Among them were American player Michael Moore who grabbed the ninth place and A$16,945, as well as British poker pro Richard Ashby
The latter not only has won the coveted WSOP piece in the past but also became the champion at this year’s Aussie Millions A$2,500 8-Game Mixed Event. In the Pot-Limit Omaha one, however, he finished seventh and laid his hands on A$26,625. The third WSOP bracelet winner who could be seen on the official leader board was Sam Greenwood, who stole the fifth place and received A$36,305 for it.
As for the heads-up duel at the very end of the final table, it took place between Laidlaw and fellow Aussie Julian Powell. Unfortunately, the latter could not claim the throne and received only A$87,140 for his excellent run.
