Felix Stephensen Celebrates Triumph at Aussie Millions Event #19 $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha

The poker festival which always amps up the temperature in the industry since it has so many large prizes on offer and a wide variety of poker tournaments which go above and beyond to meet the high standards of all participants goes by the name of Aussie Millions.

One of the most recent events which came to its conclusion was $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha and the poker player who proved his poker skills on the felt was Felix Stephensen from Norway. The first-place prize he received at the end of the final table amounted to A$81,900.

This was the 19th tournament in the rich schedule of this year’s edition of the Aussie Millions and it provided generous payouts to all players who managed to make their way to the top positions on the leader board. The prize pool amounted to some A$315,000 and this amount was reached with the help of the 140 players who made an appearance at the poker tables at the start of the run. Only the top 15 players received a chunk of the prize pool, the smallest payout of which amounted to A$4,725.

Stephensen is well-known in the poker industry with his excellent performance in the 2014 edition of the World Series of Poker Main Event, where he finished second and played in a heads-up duel against Swedish Martin Jacobson. For his deep run in the tournament, he received a total of $5,147,911 which is also his largest ever live tournament winning.

He also became the champion at the first-ever Norwegian Poker Championship Main Event which took place in 2015. This brought him the generous prize which reached NOK1,405,150 (US$162,497) after he defeated Silje Nilsen in a heads-up duel and left him in the runner-up position.

Stephensen’s Live Poker Background

His extensive poker career which started back in 2009 has given him the experience needed in order to claim the first place in the most recent event in Aussie Millions and to outplay his rivals for the throne. The top positions on the leader board were reserved for poker players from Down Under and the first one was Matthew Smith from New Zealand. For him, this is first cash after he became the champion of A$1,150 No Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha which was the 15th event in the festival. This Monday’s final table brought him A$7,875 for his 10th place.

He was followed closely on the way out by two Aussie players who claimed the 8th and 9th place, namely Geoff Mooney who bagged A$9,450 and David Wang who laid his hands on A$12,600. The top three places were also taken by locals who managed to demonstrate their skills while outperforming the rest of the competition. John Dalessandri climbed on the third place and this brought him A$36,225, which meant that the remaining players are bound to a heads-up duel.

Peter Peeters is a fairly new name on the poker scene since he has not been very active in the last years following his first participation in a live poker event back in 2009. Before his performance in this event, he had a total of $12,116 in winnings from tournaments, the most recent one from A$1,150 No Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha which brought him A$2,720. For his runner-up position, he received A$55,125, leaving Stephensen to enjoy his first place and the coveted ANTON ring which came with it.
