Resorts World Catskills revealed that it is to officially open its new casino resort to public for the first time on February 8th. The official opening date still requires the approval of the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC), which has set a deadline for the casino resort to open until March 1st.
As revealed by the resort’s owner and operator, Resorts World Catskills is scheduled to open the venue’s doors at 8:00 AM on February 8th, about a month earlier than the opening date requirement set by the state authorities in the casino operating license. A private ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the casino is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
The casino and hotel resort has its Grand Opening celebration scheduled for May 2018.
The casino resort has undoubtedly been among the most-awaited Las Vegas-style gaming venues. Currently, it is the fourth of the Las Vegas-style casinos to open in New York under a state constitution’s amendment which was approved by local voters. The expectations towards the resort have become even higher after the three recently-opened casino venues in the Southern Tier, the Finger Lakes and Schenectady had not managed to reach the original revenue projections in a gambling market that is currently a highly-competitive one.
Resorts World Catskills Features Various Amenities
Opening a casino of this scale has been on the Catskills agenda for years. The region, which was once known as a prominent tourist area for residents of New York City, has been striving to become attractive to visitors once again.
The facility which value has been estimated to approximately $1.2 billion, features a 18-story hotel, casino and entertainment complex situated only within a 90-mile drive from Manhattan. It is to be open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The five-star hotel features a total of 332 luxury rooms, including 9 garden suites, 12 penthouse suites, 7 two-story villas, a fitness centre, a spa, an 18-hole golf course and two indoor pools.
In addition, more than 10 restaurants and bars could be found in the hotel and casino resort, as well as live entertainment events that are to be held all year long at the event centre featuring more than 2,500 seats.
The casino gaming options and amenities are undoubtedly the cornerstone of the Las Vegas-style venue. The casino floor is situated on approximately 100,000 square feet and will offer access to 150 live table games, a poker room, 2,150 slot machines, and several private gaming salons.
Apart from the fact that the Resorts World Catskills casino resort would be operating at a highly competitive gambling market which has already seen the opening of three other Las Vegas-style casinos, the new venue is expected to make meaningful contributions to local community. Over 1,400 jobs are to be provided by the casino resort, and the resort’s Executive Vice President Charles A. Degliomini shared that everyone in the team hoped that the project is to stimulate the state’s economy.
