It was recently announced that construction work is commencing at the site of the future entertainment center in Mthatha in Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The new project is expected to provide lots of new job positions for the community of the third-largest city in Eastern Cape, as well as bring fresh revenue to the region through the customers interested in visiting the location. The Mthatha Casino and Entertainment is estimated to cost about R100 million to its developers, guaranteeing a world class of entertainment to its visitors.
Billion Group is well-known as South Africa’s largest black-owned property development company which is why the project is of such importance for the community. Once the construction of the location is done Mthatha will have its first licensed for operation casino venue and in addition to that, it will welcome its brand new conferencing facility, childcare location, and a wide variety of bars and restaurant offerings. It could be recalled that the construction process had been in its pre-development phase for the last 24 months.
As it is known, the project will become the latest offering in the already existing live-work-play precinct which is developed by Billion Group. To this moment the said precinct featured the 60,000-square-metre BT Ngebs City Shopping Centre as well as the four-star Mayfair Hotel. The new entertainment project will provide a well-rounded location which has a lot to offer, as Billion Group is striving to bring the premium level of entertainment closer to the people in the region. Vuyokazi Njongwe is the Commercial Director of the group, and he recently stated that the region has been neglected for the many years now.
New Life Brought to the Region
In an attempt to change the status quo, Mr. Njongwe has aspired to bring a higher level of infrastructure to the region and give people what they deserve. One of their previous successful projects was the Shopping Centre, which opened doors in 2015, as well as the Mayfair Hotel which was added to the area after that.
The year of 2016 saw the company receiving its casino license and this entertainment facility will be able to offer more than 160 permanent job positions to the community – a fact which was highly appreciated by the people in the area. The overall plan for the location is to give a job to hundreds of people in the Eastern Cape and distribute them among the three categories for employment which are skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled.
According to Dewald van Staden, Development Director at Billion Group, small, medium, and micro enterprises in the region are expected to benefit from the venture. Among them, there are security, laundry, building supplies, heavy plant, as well as equipment hire, since only local companies will be sourcing the project of the group. The construction of the structure is expected to commence at the beginning of 2018, while the first guests of the facility will be able to set foot on it by the end of the year.
