Nicolas “chilenocl” Yunis managed to take the lead over his opponents and grab the title from Day 14 of the 2017 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), bringing home a title and a monetary award for a second year in a row.
Nicolas Yunis appeared on top in the list of winners from the Event #47-H, which gave him the monetary prize of $93,720. This is not the first successful strike of the player, who managed to ensure a title also the previous year of the same championship. Then he walked away with $95,040 from the SCOOP-12-H: $2,100 NL Hold’em event.
The tournament was opened with the presence of 213 players, who were competing for the title. Day 1 eliminated most of the players, reducing the number of the players to 36. All the remained players were guaranteed a minimum prize of $4,707. The Day 1 of the tournament continued till a table of six players was set. The players had already a granted share of the prize pool, but the question was who will grab the title and the biggest piece of the monetary award.
At the final table, all the six players manifested skills. The first, who walked away from the table was “Yeezus4Pres” from Canada. He played all-in, which appeared to be a wrong move, because he could not gain the upper hand over “Kekkhou”, who had in his hand two pairs on the river. The player left his seat on the table with a prize of $17,040.
The next to leave the final table of the event was Alex “bigfox86” Foxen, who earned a monetary prize of $25,560. Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford managed to eliminate him with ace-jack over ace-queen.
Despite all the efforts of Beresford, he could not handle for a long and left the table with $34,080. He was eliminated by Yunis, who had pocket pairs of nines over Beresford’s sevens.
Yunis continued to steam ahead in the tournament and it did not take too long, before he eliminated “Kekkhou”, sending him offline with $48,990. The cards allotted Yunis ace-queen hand, unlike his opponent, who was holding king-nine.
After all the other 4 players were dropped off from the competition, Yunis went into a final battle against the Polish “Sphinx87”. By winning the first two hands, Yunis backed up his leadership, sending the Polish player at the second place with $65,391 award. This made Nicolas “chilenocl” Yunis the champion of the 2017 PokerStars SCOOP Day 14 Event #47-H, awarding him the title for a second year and the prize of $93,720.
The buy-in for the #47 NLHE 6-Max Shootout-H Event was $2,100 and the guaranteed prize pool was $426,000. The event took place on 19th May and it finished by giving the title to the previous year SCOOP-12-H: $2,100 NL Hold’em event winner Yunis, followed by the runner-up “Sphinx87”, as the second biggest winner of the Day 14.
